IMT Hyderabad Welcomes PGDM Batch 2026-28 with ABHYUDAY 2026
Hyderabad, June 17 (TNT): IMT Hyderabad on Wednesday commenced ABHYUDAY 2026, its flagship Management Orientation Programme for the incoming PGDM Class of 2026-28, marking the beginning of a new academic journey for aspiring management professionals.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Dr Raj P. Narayanam, Founder and Executive Chairman of Zaggle, as the Chief Guest, and Ranga Pothula, Managing Director–India Subcontinent and Senior Vice-President, Global Delivery Services, Infor, as the Guest of Honour.
Welcoming the new batch, Prof. (Dr.) Nikhil Rastogi highlighted the diversity of the incoming class, noting that students from 24 states and 186 cities across India, representing varied academic backgrounds, had joined the institute.
He said management education extends beyond classrooms and is enriched through peer learning, collaboration and intellectual curiosity.
In his inaugural address, IMT Hyderabad Director Prof. Baharul Islam spoke about the evolving nature of leadership in an era marked by rapid technological advancements and easy access to information.
He encouraged students to remain curious, adaptable and open to learning from diverse experiences and perspectives.
Emphasising the importance of innovation combined with human insight, he urged students to become active problem-solvers and responsible leaders.
Dr Sourabh Bhattacharya, Dean (Academics), stressed the importance of purpose-driven learning and resilience. He encouraged students to approach challenges with confidence and uphold the institute’s values of self-reflection, fairness and courage.
Addressing the gathering, Guest of Honour Ranga Pothula highlighted the impact of emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence, on industries and workplaces.
He observed that adaptability had become essential for professional success and urged students to embrace continuous learning in an increasingly dynamic environment.
Chief Guest Dr Raj P. Narayanam shared insights from his entrepreneurial journey and advised students to focus on building capabilities, nurturing meaningful relationships and creating long-term value rather than pursuing short-term achievements.
He said successful careers are shaped not only by opportunities secured but also by the skills and competencies developed over time.
ABHYUDAY, which means “rise” or “progress”, serves as the foundation programme for students entering the PGDM course at IMT Hyderabad.
The orientation is designed to familiarise students with the institute’s academic rigour, collaborative culture and leadership values through interactions with industry leaders, faculty members, alumni and community stakeholders.
