Hyd: Kamineni Hospitals launches Bone Marrow Transplant Unit for treatment of blood disorders

Hyderabad, May 13 (TNT): Kamineni Hospitals on Wednesday inaugurated a state-of-the-art Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Unit aimed at providing specialised treatment for children and patients suffering from blood-related disorders such as thalassemia, leukemia and aplastic anaemia.

The facility was inaugurated by Sri Tridandi Srimannarayana Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar Swamy, who attended the programme as the chief guest and offered his blessings.

Hospital authorities said the newly established BMT unit would provide advanced treatment options for children suffering from thalassemia, many of whom currently depend on regular blood transfusions for survival.

They stated that bone marrow transplantation offers a long-term and potentially curative solution, particularly for economically disadvantaged families who often find the treatment financially inaccessible.

Speaking on the occasion, Chinna Jeeyar Swamy described treatment and care being extended to thalassemia children as a noble humanitarian service and appreciated the management of Kamineni Hospitals for promoting the spirit of “Manava Seva Madhava Seva”.

He said supporting children suffering from serious illnesses was a collective social responsibility and expressed hope that the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit would bring renewed hope to several families.

The spiritual leader also called upon youth to actively participate in blood donation initiatives and stressed that healthcare services should uphold compassion and humanity beyond medical treatment.

Speaking later, Managing Director of Kamineni Hospitals Dr Kamineni Shashidhar said the BMT unit had been established with the objective of delivering advanced and high-quality treatment to children suffering from thalassemia and other blood-related disorders.

He stated that the hospital management was committed to providing free treatment for children affected by thalassemia and appreciated the contribution of thalassemia coordinators and voluntary blood donors supporting affected children through awareness programmes and blood donation drives.
