AP CM Naidu calls for strengthening institutional capacity to build robust state economy
Amaravati, May 13 (TNT):Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday directed officials to strengthen institutional capacity to build a more robust state economy, stating that achieving 15 per cent growth was essential to realise the goals of Swarna Andhra–2047.
During a review meeting of the Planning Department held at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister stressed the need for faster and more accurate data collection and instructed officials to provide structured three-month training programmes to staff from the State level down to the mandal level.
Naidu said Andhra Pradesh would soon move towards fully data-driven governance with emphasis on real-time monitoring rather than depending solely on traditional methods for estimating Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP).
The review meeting focused on several areas including GSDP capacity building, AI-based economic analysis, major State-wide surveys, training for district and mandal-level officials, integration of KPI auditing mechanisms and development of AI-driven analytical systems.
The Chief Minister observed that present GSDP estimates were prepared quarterly and annually, limiting the government’s ability to obtain timely insights into economic conditions.
He noted that excessive dependence on historical data often delayed policy decisions and stressed the need for a system capable of tracking economic growth every month across districts and mandals.
To support this transformation, Naidu instructed officials to train government staff in understanding GSDP methodologies and generating faster, data-backed estimates.
He proposed a three-month capacity-building programme covering all districts and also directed that three officials from each Assembly constituency receive specialised training.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that AI-based economic analysis systems were being developed for the agriculture, industrial and services sectors.
Naidu further instructed departments to identify and incorporate currently untracked indicators to strengthen economic forecasting and policymaking.
