Don’t join protests, focus on recruitment: Telangana Police Officers’ Association to aspirants

Hyderabad, July 4 (TNT): Telangana State Police Officers’ Association President Y. Gopireddy on Saturday advised police job aspirants to focus on their preparation and refrain from participating in protests, cautioning that involvement in unlawful agitations could adversely affect their prospects of securing government employment.

In a statement, Gopireddy alleged that certain vested interests were attempting to use unemployed youth aspiring to join the police force for political purposes by encouraging them to participate in agitation programmes.

He said candidates should carefully consider the legal implications of participating in protests, noting that criminal cases registered during such agitations could become a hurdle during character and antecedent verification, a mandatory part of the police recruitment process.

Stating that police recruitment in Telangana was being conducted in a transparent, fair and merit-based manner, Gopireddy urged aspirants to concentrate on disciplined preparation rather than getting distracted by controversies.

He said the state government had adopted a phased recruitment policy and that the Finance Department had approved the filling of 5,000 police vacancies, including Civil Police Constables, Armed Reserve Constables and Sub-Inspectors.

According to him, recruitment to another 2,000 police posts is expected in the next phase after completion of the ongoing recruitment process.

Gopireddy said phased recruitment would facilitate quality training, efficient administration and smooth career progression while avoiding issues relating to training infrastructure, seniority and promotions.

He urged aspirants not to be misled by misinformation and instead focus on preparing for the recruitment process.
