IIIT Hyderabad student dies after fall on campus; police probe incident
Hyderabad, July 4 (TNT): A second-year student of the International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT-H), died after sustaining critical injuries in a fall on the institute’s campus on Saturday, the institute said.
The deceased was identified as Abhiroop Pullepu, a student of the Computer Science and Game Design (CGD) programme.
In a statement, the institute said, Abhiroop sustained critical injuries following the fall and was immediately provided emergency medical assistance before being shifted to CARE Hospital.
Despite efforts by doctors, he succumbed to his injuries, the institute said, adding that the cause of death had been reported as injuries sustained in the fall.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Expressing grief over the student’s death, IIIT Hyderabad said it was extending all possible assistance to the bereaved family.
“The institute administration is in touch with the family and is extending all possible support.
Counselling and support services are also being made available to students, faculty and staff affected by the incident,” the statement said.
The institute appealed to the public to respect the privacy of the student’s family and refrain from circulating unverified information while the investigation is underway.
