CBI arrests SFIO officer, two others in Rs 1-cr bribery case

According to a CBI press release on Thursday, the case was registered against the SFIO officer, attached to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs in Chennai, an advocate and others for allegedly demanding Rs 1 crore from a complainant in return for favouring him in an SFIO investigation into the DHFL scam.

Following verification of the complaint and registration of an FIR, the CBI laid a trap and arrested the three accused after the advocate allegedly received Rs 20 lakh from the complainant as part payment of the demanded bribe on behalf of the SFIO officer.

Searches at the premises of the public servant and the advocate led to the recovery of incriminating material related to the case, the Agency said.

The investigation is in progress, the agency added.
