Hyderabad, Apr 16 (TNT): Working President of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS, K T Rana Rai (KTR) on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party, accusing it of consistently adopting an “anti-Telangana” stance.
Reacting to remarks made in Parliament by BJP MP Tejasvi Surya, who allegedly compared the formation of Telangana with the India-Pakistan Partition, KTR termed the comparison “utterly foolish” and a serious insult to the state’s identity and history.
KTR asserted that Telangana was not a “gift” from any political party but the result of a prolonged democratic struggle and sacrifices made by thousands of youth.
He alleged that from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Tejasvi Surya, BJP leaders have repeatedly made remarks undermining the Telangana statehood movement.
Taking aim at political representatives from the state, KTR described the silence of BJP and Congress MPs from Telangana over the remarks as “shameful.”
He accused them of failing to defend the dignity and self-respect of the people of Telangana in Parliament.
KTR demanded an unconditional apology from Tejasvi Surya and the BJP leadership, warning that failure to do so would reinforce perceptions of an institutional bias against Telangana.
He said the people of Telangana are closely watching the developments and would hold those responsible accountable for remarks perceived as disrespectful to the state and its history.
