BJP Welcomes HC Order on HYDRAA Commissioner, Demands Body’s Dismantling

Hyderabad, July 27 (TNT): Telangana BJP President N. Ramchander Rao on Monday welcomed the Telangana High Court’s order directing the immediate removal of HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath from his post and termed the verdict a setback for the Congress government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

In a statement, Rao alleged that the High Court’s order was a “strong slap” to the State government, accusing it of undermining democratic principles through the functioning of HYDRAA.

Demanding the immediate dismantling of HYDRAA, he alleged that the agency, set up to remove illegal constructions, had become a platform for high-handedness, spreading fear among the public and farmers.

The BJP leader said his party had consistently maintained that HYDRAA should not act against poor people and small farmers. However, he alleged that the Congress government violated democratic norms and committed excesses under the pretext of protecting the poor.

Rao said the judiciary is one of the fundamental pillars of democracy and alleged that officials repeatedly defied court orders.

Referring to the reported filing of 63 contempt petitions, he claimed it reflected the extent to which the government and officials had disregarded judicial directions.

Alleging that officials entered private lands despite court orders and failed to follow legal procedures, Rao said such actions had undermined the rule of law.

Stating that no one is above the law, the BJP State chief urged the government to implement the High Court’s directions in letter and spirit and abolish HYDRAA, which he alleged had become an anti-people organisation targeting the poor and farmers.

He warned that if the government continued to ignore the law and judicial orders, the BJP would intensify its agitation and continue to support those affected.
