PM Modi to Inaugurate AP’s Bhogapuram International Airport on August 1

Amaravati, July 27 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday directed officials to make elaborate arrangements for the inauguration of the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 1.

According to the schedule, the Prime Minister will arrive at the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at 10.45 a.m. on August 1 and will be received by Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer and Chief Minister Naidu.

Modi will inaugurate the airport terminal building at 10.58 a.m. and inspect the facility before proceeding to the public meeting venue in an open-top vehicle. More than 13,500 tribal women and students are expected to welcome him with a grand Dhimsa dance performance.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to address a public meeting from 11.30 a.m. to 12.55 p.m. before departing for New Delhi at 1.10 p.m..

Reviewing preparations, the Chief Minister said the airport, completed in a record 31 months, would mark a major milestone in the development of North Andhra and usher in a new era for the state’s aviation sector.

Naidu said the world-class greenfield airport, equipped with modern infrastructure, would significantly improve air connectivity while boosting employment, tourism and commercial activity in the region.

Describing the airport as a matter of pride for North Andhra and the Telugu people, he instructed officials to accord a grand welcome to the Prime Minister.

He suggested welcoming Modi with traditional Dhimsa, the tribal folk dance of the region, along with a Kuchipudi performance.

The Chief Minister also proposed organising a Dhimsa dance featuring a record number of participants with the aim of setting a Guinness World Record, besides showcasing regional attractions such as Araku Coffee and prominent tourism destinations.

Naidu directed officials to launch a statewide awareness campaign under the theme “Wings to the Dreams of North Andhra” to popularise the airport project.

He suggested organising outreach programmes for women, youth and students, along with quizzes, elocution competitions, flash mobs, drone shows, round-table meetings with industrialists and 3K and 5K runs. Winners of these events, he said, should be invited to witness the inauguration ceremony.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that Prime Minister Modi would also lay foundation stones and dedicate projects worth Rs 18,000 crore relating to the Ministries of Petroleum, Road Transport and other departments during the visit.
