57 Newly Recruited Scientific Personnel Join Telangana Forensic Science Laboratory
Hyderabad, July 27 (TNT): The Telangana Forensic Science Laboratory (TGFSL) on Monday inducted 57 newly recruited scientific personnel, strengthening its forensic capabilities amid the growing demand for scientific evidence in criminal investigations.
Appointment orders were presented to the recruits by Director General of Police (DGP) CV Anand at TGFSL in Hyderabad.
Welcoming the recruits, Principal Secretary, Home Department and Director, FSL, Shikha Goel, said the laboratory has consistently disposed of more than 80 per cent of its workload despite limited scientific manpower.
She said TGFSL disposed of 18,647 cases in 2025, registering a disposal rate of 86 per cent, while ensuring timely examination of priority and time-bound cases.
She said the laboratory is equipped with advanced capabilities in DNA analysis, computer forensics, narcotics, toxicology and other forensic disciplines, and continues to strengthen its infrastructure to handle the increasing volume of narcotics and digital evidence. TGFSL also participates in international collaborative exercises and maintains key accreditations and recognitions.
Highlighting the academic credentials of the new recruits, Goel said the induction includes 35 Ph.D. holders, 12 M.Sc. graduates, five M.Tech. graduates and three MCA graduates, which will significantly enhance the laboratory’s capacity to provide timely, accurate and scientifically reliable forensic services to the police and the criminal justice system.
Addressing the gathering, the DGP congratulated the newly recruited personnel and stressed the growing importance of scientific evidence under the new criminal laws. He urged them to continuously upgrade their professional skills and ensure timely and accurate examination of evidence without compromising quality, particularly in sensitive and high-profile cases.
The DGP also appreciated the performance of TGFSL despite manpower constraints and assured continued support for strengthening scientific manpower, infrastructure, advanced equipment and other operational requirements of the laboratory.
