AP to Launch Rs. 15,803-Cr AMCA Project in Puttaparthi, Sri Satha Sai Dist.
Amaravati, May 14 (TNT): The Andhra Pradesh government on Thursday announced that the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) project will be established in Puttaparthi in Sri Sathya Sai district with an investment of ₹15,803 crore, marking a major push towards developing Rayalaseema as a defence and aerospace hub.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will jointly participate in the foundation stone laying ceremony on Friday.
Minister for IT Nara Lokesh will also attend the programme.
The project will be developed jointly by the Aeronautical Development Agency and Defence Research and Development Organisation over 650 acres in Puttaparthi.
Officials said the AMCA project is India’s first fifth-generation stealth multirole fighter aircraft programme and will include facilities for development and testing of advanced fighter aircraft equipped with stealth technology, twin-engine supercruise capability and advanced avionics.
The project is expected to generate employment for around 7,500 people directly, while ancillary industries linked to the project could attract investments worth nearly ₹1 lakh crore.
The government has separately allocated 400 acres for ancillary industries associated with the AMCA project.
Along with the AMCA project, foundation stones will also be laid for 12 additional projects in the defence and drone sectors involving investments worth ₹4,145 crore and expected employment generation for 6,071 people.
The projects include four defence manufacturing units and eight drone-related projects proposed under the state’s “Drone City” initiative in Kurnool district.
Among the defence projects, Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited will invest ₹1,430 crore, Bharat Dynamics Limited ₹489 crore, HFCL ₹1,040 crore and Premier Explosives ₹500 crore.
The drone projects include investments by Algobotics Private Limited, Drogo Drones Private Limited, Drone Lab Technologies, HC Robotics, Sense Image Technologies, Air Pace Industries, JDK Fly Drone World and Latric Aerospace.
Officials said the projects are expected to significantly strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s defence manufacturing ecosystem while accelerating industrial development in Rayalaseema.
