AP Targets Rs.1.27 Lakh Crore Revenue; CM Naidu calls for AI-Driven Tax Reforms

Amaravati, May 14(TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday directed all revenue-generating departments to intensify efforts to increase the state’s own revenues, leverage technology and aggressively pursue pending central funds to accelerate economic growth.

Reviewing the performance of key revenue departments at the Secretariat, Naidu said Andhra Pradesh must convert rising investments into higher tax revenues and sustainable economic expansion.

Officials informed the meeting that the State Own Revenue (SOR) increased from ₹1,04,345 crore in 2024-25 to ₹1,10,643 crore in 2025-26, registering a growth of six per cent.

According to officials, major contributions included ₹33,679 crore from GST, ₹10,300 crore from the Mines Department and ₹11,047 crore from the Stamps and Registration Department.

The government has fixed a revenue target of ₹1,27,506 crore for the 2026-27 financial year.

Naidu said departments such as Commercial Taxes, Excise, Mines, Transport and Registration must function at full capacity and prevent revenue leakages.

He observed that resolving land disputes, particularly issues relating to Section 22A properties, could substantially improve registration revenues.

“As investments increase, tax revenues must rise proportionately,” the Chief Minister said, noting that the state had already recorded nearly 38 per cent revenue growth during the first 42 days of the current financial year.

Describing districts as “growth centres”, Naidu said economic expansion at the district level would help Andhra Pradesh achieve statewide revenue targets more rapidly.

He instructed departments to improve the Speed of Doing Business, adopt innovative systems and use technology to curb tax evasion and irregularities.

Emphasising the role of Artificial Intelligence, the Chief Minister directed departments to introduce AI-driven GST scrutiny systems, strengthen analytics and utilise technology to identify leakages and improve compliance without harassing taxpayers.

He also asked officials to create greater awareness among taxpayers regarding the importance of tax payments and ensure transparency in collections.

Naidu further highlighted the need for value addition in minerals and red sanders exports to improve revenues and called for faster vehicle registrations within 24 hours.

The Chief Minister also stressed the need for rationalisation of municipal taxes and wider use of GIS mapping, drone surveys and satellite imagery to identify unauthorised constructions and improve tax assessments.

Sai Prasad and senior officials from the Finance, Transport, Excise, Mines, Commercial Taxes, Forest, Municipal Administration and Registration departments attended the review meeting.
