AP Dy CM Pawan Kalyan hails Launch of Araku Blood Bank Project in ASR Dist.
Amaravati, June 13 (TNT) : Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Saturday expressed satisfaction over the commencement of a long-awaited blood bank project at the Government Hospital in Araku, aimed at addressing the healthcare needs of tribal communities, particularly patients suffering from sickle cell anaemia.
In a post on X, the Deputy Chief Minister said the foundation stone for the blood bank building, to be constructed at a cost of ₹1.15 crore, had been laid on Friday by public representatives and officials of Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR) district.
Pawan Kalyan recalled that during his earlier visit to Araku, local women had highlighted the severe difficulties faced by patients, especially women affected by sickle cell anaemia, due to the shortage of blood and the absence of a dedicated blood bank in the region.
Moved by their concerns, he had assured them that a blood bank facility would be established.
Acting on his initiative, the Bengaluru-based BSR Charitable Trust came forward to mobilise funds for the project, he said, appreciating the organisation for its support in strengthening healthcare infrastructure in the tribal belt.
The Deputy Chief Minister expressed confidence that the proposed blood bank would ensure timely availability of blood, improve emergency medical services and provide critical support to patients requiring regular transfusions, particularly those battling sickle cell disease.
He said the project reflects the government’s commitment to improving healthcare access in remote tribal areas and addressing long-pending public health challenges in the region.
