Amaravati to be developed as inclusive, world-class capital: AP CM Naidu
Amaravati, July 15 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said the Integrated Master Plan for Amaravati should be designed as an inclusive capital city where people from all parts of the state can live and work together, while serving as the engine of the state’s future economic growth.
Reviewing the progress of the Amaravati 2.0 Integrated Master Plan and the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS)-2 with senior officials and representatives from Singapore, Naidu said the capital city should be developed to global standards with a strong economic base capable of generating large-scale employment.
He said Amaravati is being planned as an international-standard city with well-designed Inner and Outer Ring Roads and world-class infrastructure.
Representatives from Singapore presented the project’s scope, implementation strategy and action plan, including area development, infrastructure planning and investment models.
Referring to the state’s water resources, the Chief Minister said the Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Scheme has ensured the transfer of Godavari waters to the Krishna River, making the Amaravati region water-secure despite challenges posed by El NiƱo conditions.
Naidu said the government envisions Amaravati as a “Creative City” driven by innovation, sustainability and economic growth, with the objective of achieving global benchmarks and one of the highest per capita income levels.
He said the capital is also being planned with a strong emphasis on environmental sustainability through the adoption of green energy and green building practices.
Minister for Municipal Administration P. Narayana, Municipal Administration Principal Secretary Suresh Kumar, Finance Principal Secretary Piyush Kumar and representatives from Singapore attended the review meeting.
