Tirumala: Vaikhanasa Agama a distinct Vedic Agama tradition: Scholars
Tirumala, Aug 28 (TNT): Scholars on Friday highlighted the significance of the Vaikhanasa Agama tradition, describing it as a distinct Vedic Agama system founded by Sage Vikhanasa.
A special programme was organised at the Asthana Mandapam in Tirumala to mark the birth anniversary of Sage Vikhanasa. The event was jointly organised by the TTD Alwar Divya Prabandha Project and the Sri Vaikhanasa Divya Siddhanta Vivardhini Sabha.
The scholars said the Vaikhanasa tradition, based on the Vaikhanasa Kalpasutra, provides systematic guidelines for temple construction, consecration, worship and conduct of festivals.
They noted that rituals at the Tirumala temple are performed in accordance with Vaikhanasa Agama and said the tradition emphasises devotion, dharma, compassion and universal welfare.
The scholars appreciated the efforts of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) in preserving and promoting the ancient spiritual tradition.
The programme was presided over by Ganjam Prabhakaracharyulu, Secretary of Sri Vikhanasa Trust.
Scholars and dignitaries, including Agnihotra Sanath Kumar Acharyulu, Prof Dr Vedantham Srivishnu Bhattacharyulu and Dr D.V. Hayagrivacharyulu, participated in the programme.
