ACB Nabs Gandhi Nagar SI in Hyderabad While Accepting Rs 50,000 bribe

Hyderabad, June 23(TNT): The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday caught a Sub-Inspector (SI) of Police attached to Gandhi Nagar Police Station, Hyderabad, while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹50,000 from a complainant.

The accused officer, V. Narsimhulu, was trapped by ACB officials of City Range-I at around 5.30 p.m. after he allegedly demanded ₹1 lakh to perform an official favour.

According to the ACB, the officer had demanded the bribe for issuing station bail and for not harassing the complainant in connection with a case registered against him.

He was caught while accepting part payment of ₹50,,000.

The tainted bribe amount of ₹50,000 was recovered from the possession of the accused officer at his instance.

The ACB stated that the officer had abused his official position and performed his duties improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage.

The accused was arrested and is being produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Nampally, for judicial remand.

Further investigation into the case is in progress.

The ACB has appealed to the public to report any demand for bribes by public servants through its toll-free helpline 1064 or via its official social media platforms.
