Telangana Govt clears Rs 6,000-Cr employee arrears within 100 days
Hyderabad (TNT): The Telangana government has fulfilled its assurance to state employees by clearing ₹6,000 crore in pending arrears within 100 days, demonstrating its commitment towards employee welfare, officials said on Thursday.
Acting on the directions of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Finance Department Principal Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania released the final instalment of ₹2,000 crore on Thursday, completing the promised payment.
The government had released the arrears in three phases:
- First instalment: ₹2,000 crore on May 29
- Second instalment: ₹2,000 crore on June 30
- Third instalment: ₹2,000 crore released on Thursday
The government said the payments were made despite financial constraints, reflecting its priority towards addressing employee-related issues and fulfilling commitments made to Employees’ JAC leaders.
The Finance Department stated that the release of funds has cleared all long-pending commutation arrears of pensioners. Remaining dues will be settled in a phased and systematic manner, it added.
Lakhs of government employees and retired personnel across Telangana are expected to benefit from the release of arrears.
Employee JAC representatives appreciated the government’s approach towards resolving employee issues and thanked Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka for fulfilling the commitment.
