Affle establishes doctoral research scholarship at IIIT Hyderabad to support young researchers
Hyderabad, Nov 6 (TNT) : Global technology company Affle 3i Limited has established the ‘Kedia Doctoral Research Scholarship’ at the International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIIT-H) to support advanced research in emerging technology domains.
The scholarship, instituted in recognition of 20 years of leadership and contributions by Affle COO (India and Emerging Markets) Vipul Kedia, will support one doctoral research scholar every year for the next 20 years, the Company said in a release on Friday.
Funded through an annual contribution from Affle, the scholarship will cover tuition fees, stipend, research expenses and dissemination of research outcomes.
The initiative aims to promote research in critical and emerging areas, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, healthcare AI and smart cities, and strengthen India’s research and innovation ecosystem.
IIIT Hyderabad Professor and former Director PJ Narayanan welcomed the initiative, saying industry-academia partnerships played an important role in supporting advanced research and nurturing the next generation of technology talent.
He said the scholarship would enable promising researchers to explore emerging technology frontiers and develop solutions to real-world challenges.
Vipul Kedia said IIIT Hyderabad had played an important role in shaping his professional journey and expressed happiness over Affle’s initiative to support the next generation of researchers and technology leaders.
He said the scholarship reflected the company’s commitment to extending the benefits of technological innovation beyond business and creating a lasting societal impact.
The initiative was part of its broader commitment to combining long-term business growth with social responsibility by investing in young researchers and emerging technology fields, the company said.
