ISB extends Dean Madan Pillutla’s tenure by five years
Hyderabad, July 10 (TNT): The Executive Board of the Indian School of Business (ISB) has extended the tenure of Professor Madan Pillutla as Dean for a second five-year term, reaffirming its confidence in his leadership as the institution marks its 25th anniversary this year.
The decision follows a first term during which Professor Pillutla led several initiatives to strengthen the school’s academic programmes, research, entrepreneurship ecosystem and global standing.
Among the major initiatives launched during his tenure were the Post Graduate Programme in Management for Young Leaders (PGP YL), I-Venture Immersive (ivi), a residential entrepreneurship programme, and ISB Discover, a digital platform that translates faculty research into practical insights for businesses, policymakers and society, ISB said in a release here on Friday.
He also oversaw a redesign of ISB’s flagship Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) curriculum to align it with changing industry requirements.
Under his leadership, ISB’s flagship PGP was ranked 12th globally in the Financial Times Global MBA Rankings 2026, while the school secured the fifth position in the LinkedIn Top MBA Programs 2025, which assesses the career outcomes of MBA graduates.
The school also expanded scholarship support, strengthened engagement with students, alumni, industry and global partners, and broadened its philanthropic base to support research, faculty development, scholarships and institutional growth.
Announcing the extension, ISB Executive Board Chairman Harish Manwani said Professor Pillutla’s first term was marked by significant milestones, including enhanced academic and research excellence, stronger global partnerships, expansion of the programme portfolio and improved student and alumni engagement.
He said the school had also strengthened its position as a leading business school in Asia while reinforcing its role as a thought leadership platform on issues of national and global importance.
Accepting the extension, Professor Pillutla said it was an honour to continue leading the institution and thanked the Board, faculty, students, alumni and partners for their trust and support.
He said ISB would continue to focus on developing responsible leaders, generating impactful knowledge and serving business and society.
Professor Pillutla has been associated with ISB since its inception and taught the founding batch of the PGP programme.
Before taking over as Dean, he served as Professor of Organisational Behaviour at the London Business School, bringing extensive international academic and administrative experience to the institution.
