AP to Distribute 72.7 Lakh Pattadar Passbooks by March 2027: CM Naidu
Banaganapalle (Andhra Pradesh), July 9 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday said the State government will distribute 72.70 lakh Pattadar Passbooks across 9,833 villages by March 2027 as part of its efforts to resolve land disputes and ensure secure land ownership.
Launching the ‘Mee Bhoomi–Mee Hakku’ programme at Banaganapalle in Nandyal district, the Chief Minister distributed Pattadar Passbooks to farmers and said the government is restoring people’s ownership over their properties by issuing passbooks bearing the State Emblem.
Naidu alleged that the previous YSRCP government had arbitrarily brought several lands under Section 22-A, creating disputes and hardships for landowners.
He described the erstwhile Land Titling Act as a “black law” and said the coalition government repealed it soon after assuming office.
He said the new Pattadar Passbooks incorporate advanced security features to prevent errors and safeguard farmers’ ownership rights.
The Chief Minister said the government has completed the Record of Rights process in 1,971 villages covering village inam lands and introduced auto-mutation to facilitate seamless transfer of inherited properties.
He added that several long-pending land disputes in Tirupati, Guntur and Chittoor districts had already been resolved.
Referring to Waqf lands, Naidu said 2,074 acres in the Done Assembly constituency had been removed from the prohibited list under Section 22-A, resolving issues faced by farmers.
Highlighting development initiatives in Rayalaseema, the Chief Minister said projects such as the Kadapa Steel Plant, Hero Motors manufacturing unit and the proposed AMCA defence aircraft facility would transform the region into a hub for defence, aerospace, automobile and electronics industries, generating large-scale employment.
He said investments worth nearly Rs 40,000 crore would help develop Rayalaseema as a major horticulture hub and noted that Nandyal district has significant potential in the sector.
Expressing concern over deficient rainfall due to the El Niño effect, Naidu said rainfall this season was 22 per cent below normal and stressed the need for rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge to improve long-term water security.
The Chief Minister also said the government would take stringent action against crimes against women and asserted that it would not tolerate attempts to incite communal hatred.
Launching a political attack on the YSRCP, Naidu accused the previous government of encouraging anti-social elements, mishandling issues related to religious institutions and attempting to divide society on caste, religion and regional lines.
Ministers Payyavula Keshav, Anagani Satya Prasad, B.C. Janardhan Reddy, N.M.D. Farooq, MP Byreddy Shabari, MLAs and other public representatives attended the programme.
