45 Army Officers Awarded B.Tech Degrees at MCEME Convocation in Secunderabad

Hyderabad, June 29 (TNT): A total of 45 Army officers, including four officers from friendly foreign countries, were awarded Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degrees during the 109th Convocation Ceremony held at the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME), Secunderabad.

The graduating officers comprised 32 from the Degree Engineering (DE-106) Course and 13 from the Technical Entry Scheme (TES-44) Course, a defence release said here on Monday.

The degrees were conferred by Lt Gen Neeraj Varshney, AVSM, VSM, Commandant, MCEME and Colonel Commandant, Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME), at the ceremony held on June 27.

Among the DE-106 course officers, Maj Bhartendu Negi was adjudged the Overall Best Student and received the prestigious DGEME Trophy, DGEME Gold Medal and GOC-in-C ARTRAC Book Prize.

Capt Prabhat Chandra topped the Mechanical stream, while Capt Gautam and Capt Reshiv Kashyap secured top honours in the Electronics stream and were awarded the Commandant’s Silver Medal.

In the TES-44 course, Lt Sahib Singh was declared the Overall Best Student and received the GOC-in-C ARTRAC Trophy and Book Prize along with the DGEME Gold Medal.

Lt Gem Phub of the Royal Bhutan Army and Lt Anuj Vashisht received the Commandant’s Silver Medal for securing first place in the Mechanical and Electronics streams, respectively.

Addressing the graduating officers, Lt Gen Varshney congratulated them on successfully completing an important phase of their professional training and urged them to pursue excellence, adaptability and continuous learning throughout their military careers.

He encouraged the officers to adopt innovative approaches to problem-solving, remain resilient in the face of challenges and uphold the values and ethos of the Indian Army.

An exhibition showcasing innovative projects developed by the graduating officers was also organised during the ceremony.

The project titled “Acoustics-Based Gun Shot Localisation and Detection System with Map Overlay” was adjudged the Best Project in the DE-106 course, while “AI-Powered Offline Semantic Search Engine” won the Best Project award in the TES-45 course, reflecting the institution’s focus on emerging technologies and the Government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative in defence.
