AP CM Naidu Directs Officials to Make Government Services More Citizen-Friendly

Amaravati, June 29 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday directed officials to simplify government services and make them more accessible and citizen-friendly.

Reviewing the performance of various departments at the Real Time Governance Society (RTGS) Centre in the Secretariat here, the Chief Minister instructed officials to streamline service delivery mechanisms and strengthen the public grievance redressal system.

Officials informed him that the government had already initiated measures to simplify procedures in 11 categories of public services.

Naidu directed officials to enable citizens to lodge grievances through online platforms as well as the Mana Mitra WhatsApp platform. He also instructed them to ensure that voice messages received through the platform are accepted as complaints.

When officials informed him that nearly 3,000 locations across the state continue to face mobile connectivity issues, the Chief Minister directed them to resolve the problem within three months.

Officials also gave a presentation on the “Navachethana” Early Childhood Development Screening Programme being implemented by the Women and Child Welfare Department.

They informed the Chief Minister that 33,949 children had been screened so far to assess their physical and mental development. Besides screening children at Anganwadi centres, officials said field teams were also conducting household visits, while a pilot project would be launched to ensure timely follow-up after screening.

Officials said a circular had been issued mandating field visits by senior officers. Under the new guidelines, Secretaries will spend three days, Heads of Departments six days and District Collectors eight days every month in the field.

The Chief Minister directed officials to identify areas facing major issues and ensure immediate resolution. He also reviewed measures taken to strengthen the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS), for which Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) have been issued.

Later, Naidu, accompanied by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Director General Chandrajit Banerjee and other CII representatives, visited the RTGS Centre.

IT Secretary Katamneni Bhaskar explained the functioning of RTGS and highlighted the use of Artificial Intelligence and other advanced technologies in governance. He also presented case studies on the RTGS response during natural disasters.

The Chief Minister urged CII representatives to expedite the establishment of the proposed CII Global Leadership Centre in Andhra Pradesh.

Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad and Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta were among those present.
