CM Revanth Reddy Invites Oxford University to Set Up Education Centre in Telangana

London, Aug 21 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday invited Oxford University to bring its executive education programmes and specialised research capabilities to Telangana and explore setting up a centre in Hyderabad.

Reddy, as part of the Telangana Rising delegation, visited the nearly 900-year-old university and held discussions with Professor Maya Tudor of the Blavatnik School of Government and Professor Faisal Devji of Balliol College.

The Chief Minister outlined the Telangana Rising vision and the state government’s plans to transform Hyderabad into a global education hub, a release said.

He invited Oxford University to bring its executive education programmes, specialised research capabilities and academic ecosystem to Hyderabad and establish a centre in the state.

K Ramakrishna Rao, Advisor and Ex-officio Special Chief Secretary, CMO, made a presentation on opportunities available to foreign universities under the National Education Policy and highlighted the advantages of establishing operations in Hyderabad and Telangana.

The Oxford representatives responded positively and offered several areas for collaboration with the Telangana government.

The Telangana delegation also invited Oxford representatives to participate in the Telangana Rising Global Summit, scheduled to be held in Hyderabad from December 7 to 9, 2026.

During his visit, Reddy visited the portrait of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi at Somerville College, where she was an alumna. The portrait was gifted to the college by Sonia Gandhi in 2002.

Later, the Chief Minister visited the Utilita Bowl operated by the GMR Group along with Kiran Kumar Grandhi, Corporate Chairman of GMR Group.

The integrated sporting facility comprises a golf course, other sporting infrastructure and a hotel.

Reddy held discussions with Grandhi and the GMR global sports unit and invited the group to invest in Telangana and contribute to the development of world-class sporting infrastructure in the state.

The Chief Minister is scheduled to visit the Emirates Stadium later on Friday to watch an English Premier League match featuring current champions Arsenal and Coventry.
