Hyderabad, June 13 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday directed all departments and agencies under the Core Urban Region (CURE) of Hyderabad to remain on high alert in view of the heavy rainfall lashing the city and several parts of the state.

In a post on X, the Chief Minister instructed senior officials of the police, traffic police, Municipal Administration, HYDRAA, power distribution agencies, the Water Board and other concerned departments to closely monitor the situation and ensure uninterrupted civic services.

Revanth Reddy also called for an urgent war-room review meeting with senior officials, including the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police and the Special Chief Secretary (CURE), to assess the situation in real time and ensure normal life is not disrupted across Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, Director General of Police C. V. Anand inspected rain-affected areas, including Malkam Cheruvu and the Tolichowki region, to review waterlogging issues and traffic conditions arising from the heavy downpour.

During the inspection, the DGP held discussions with Cyberabad Police Commissioner M. Ramesh and reviewed measures being taken to ensure public safety and smooth traffic movement in affected areas.

The DGP directed officials to take immediate steps to prevent water stagnation on roads, clear traffic bottlenecks and coordinate with civic authorities for the speedy restoration of normalcy.

Anand also instructed police officers across Hyderabad and other rain-affected districts to remain prepared for any emergency arising from the prevailing weather conditions.

He asked field-level officers to maintain close coordination with district administrations, disaster response agencies and municipal authorities to provide timely assistance to the public.

The DGP advised citizens to avoid waterlogged areas, exercise caution while travelling and follow official advisories issued by the police and other authorities.

Later, Anand reviewed pre-monsoon preparedness measures at Malkam Cheruvu and surrounding areas within the Cyberabad Commissionerate limits, with a special focus on waterlogging-prone locations and traffic management during the monsoon season.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner Dr. M. Ramesh and CMC Commissioner Srujana briefed the DGP on identified waterlogging points, factors contributing to traffic congestion during heavy rains and mitigation measures being implemented.

The DGP also inspected the areas around Malkam Cheruvu and Botanical Garden, reviewed ongoing drainage and road-widening works and suggested additional preventive measures to avoid future flooding and traffic disruptions.

Emphasising that public safety remains the top priority, Anand directed all departments to work in close coordination to ensure a swift and effective response to any rain-related emergencies.
