Telangana CM Directs Collectors to Complete Paddy, Maize Procurement in Mission Mode
Hyderabad, May 12 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minsiter A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday directed District Collectors to expedite paddy and maize procurement operations across Telangana and complete the process in a mission mode by the end of May.
The Chief Minister held a video conference with District Collectors to review the procurement status and warned officials that negligence in procurement operations would not be tolerated.
He instructed Collectors to personally conduct field visits, address farmers’ grievances and ensure smooth procurement without delays.
Revanth Reddy directed officials to ensure adequate supply of gunny bags and availability of hamalis (loaders) at procurement centres.
He also instructed the Transport Commissioner to hire tractors and other vehicles wherever necessary to avoid delays in transporting procured grains to warehouses.
The Chief Minister warned that criminal action could be initiated against contractors who fail to provide sufficient vehicles for transportation as per agreements.
He stressed that District Collectors would be held responsible for ensuring transparent and efficient procurement operations and advised them to seek police assistance if necessary.
To strengthen monitoring, the CM ordered the appointment of one officer at every IKP centre and another at each rice mill to supervise procurement and loading activities.
He also instructed officials to issue receipts immediately after loading to prevent irregularities in deductions related to chaff and weight loss.
Reviewing the impact of unseasonal rains, Revanth Reddy directed officials to prepare a permanent action plan to protect farmers from crop losses.
He instructed authorities to ensure availability of tarpaulins and establish a dedicated mechanism to provide weather forecast updates to farmers at the mandal level.
The Chief Minister also ordered officials to prevent transportation of paddy from neighbouring states to procurement centres in Telangana.
