PM Modi says Telangana Key to India’s Growth, Highlights Infrastructure Push at Hyderabad Event
Hyderabad, May 10 (TNT): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said Telangana holds both national and global importance and asserted that the Centre is accelerating major infrastructure and industrial projects to boost employment, connectivity and economic growth in the state.
Addressing a gathering after virtually dedicating and laying foundation stones for multiple development projects worth Rs 9,377 Crore in Hyderabad, Modi said the initiatives launched on Sunday would generate thousands of jobs and significantly strengthen Telangana’s connectivity network.
Describing India as moving forward on a “Reforms Express,” the Prime Minister said the country was simultaneously building world-class modern infrastructure to support rapid economic growth.
Referring to the Zaheerabad Industrial Area being developed under the National Industrial Corridor Mission, Modi said the project would emerge as a smart industrial city equipped with advanced infrastructure, quality power supply, IT facilities and all amenities required by global investors.
He said the Centre would invest thousands of crores of rupees in the project, which would create employment opportunities for Telangana’s youth while strengthening the automobile, machinery and food processing sectors.
Highlighting the PM MITRA Park at Warangal, Modi said the textile park would usher in a “textile revolution” in the country and create large-scale employment opportunities, particularly for women.
He added that industries established in the park would benefit from various Central government schemes, including the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme.
The Prime Minister also stressed the Centre’s focus on expanding modern connectivity through roads, railways and airports.
He said unprecedented investments were being made in national highways and noted that Telangana’s highway network had doubled over the past few years. According to Modi, the expansion of highway connectivity between Telangana and Karnataka would reduce travel time and transportation costs.
On railway development, Modi said the railway budget for the Telangana region before the bifurcation of the state was less than Rs 1,000 crore, whereas the allocation for Telangana alone now stood at around Rs 5,500 crore.
He said railway projects worth nearly Rs 50,000 crore were currently underway in the state and noted that Telangana was operating five Vande Bharat Express trains and six Amrit Bharat trains.
The Prime Minister also referred to the inauguration of multi-track railway projects on the Kazipet–Vijayawada section and the Kazipet railway bypass line, saying the projects would further improve passenger travel and freight movement.
Highlighting the importance of energy security, Modi said the inauguration of Indian Oil Corporation’s Malkapur terminal would strengthen Telangana’s petroleum supply chain and meet the state’s growing energy needs.
He also spoke about India’s progress in solar energy, ethanol blending and hydrogen-based fuel systems, while urging citizens to use petrol, diesel and gas responsibly.
Praising Telangana’s youth and startup ecosystem, Modi said young people in the state were dreaming big and contributing actively towards building a developed Telangana and a developed India.
In a lighter moment during the speech, Modi referred to Telangana Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy and remarked that while politics would not be discussed on the stage, the Centre remained committed to supporting Telangana’s development aspirations.
The Prime Minister reiterated that development of states was essential for the country’s progress and stressed that the Centre was working with the spirit of cooperative federalism to realise the vision of a developed India by 2047.
