Hyderabad, Apr 30 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday extended greetings to workers across the state on the occasion of May Day tomorrow , reaffirming his government’s commitment to the welfare, dignity and empowerment of the working class.
In a message, Revanth said the government is moving forward in tune with the spirit of workers and regards them as true partners in the development of Telangana.
He noted that the state’s new industrial policy would play a key role in improving livelihoods and creating opportunities for workers.
Highlighting welfare measures, Revanth said the government has introduced several initiatives aimed at supporting workers, including a ₹5 lakh accident insurance scheme for gig workers in the unorganised sector and the Telangana Gig and Platform Workers’ Welfare Act.
He added that the government has taken steps to generate employment and clear long-pending compassionate appointments in various departments.
The Chief Minister also noted that bonuses are being released ahead of festivals such as Dasara and Diwali for workers of Singareni Collieries Company Limited, which he described as a key contributor to the state’s growth.
For the first time, contract workers in Singareni were provided a bonus of ₹5,000 each, he said, adding that insurance coverage of up to ₹1 crore is being extended to workers in collaboration with banks.
The Chief Minister further stated that special measures are being taken for the welfare of Telangana workers employed in Gulf countries, including financial assistance of ₹5 lakh to the families of those who pass away abroad.
Reiterating the government’s focus on labour welfare, he said several programmes are being implemented to ensure social security, dignity and improved living standards for workers across the state.
