Hyderabad, Feb 2 (TNT) : Advanced robotic and minimally invasive surgical techniques are significantly improving outcomes for patients suffering from liver and pancreatic cancers, reducing post-operative pain, blood loss, and hospital stay, doctors said at a national-level training programme held at KIMS Kondapur here on Monday.
A three-day fellowship on “Advanced Surgical Techniques for Liver and Pancreatic Cancers”, organised under the AMASI-MMAS HPB Fellowship, brought together surgeons from across the country to focus on patient-centric, minimally invasive cancer care.
The programme emphasised how modern technology is transforming complex cancer surgeries into safer procedures with quicker recovery.
Experts demonstrated how robotic and laparoscopic HPB surgeries allow greater precision while preserving healthy liver tissue.
Surgeons were also trained in the use of ICG-based imaging, which helps visualise blood flow and anatomy in real time, reducing surgical complications and improving long-term patient outcomes.
Course Director Dr. Phanikrishna Ravula said that earlier, liver and pancreatic cancer surgeries often required large incisions and prolonged recovery.
“With robotic and minimally invasive approaches, patients experience less pain, fewer complications, and faster return to normal life,” he explained.
With experience of more than 1,500 liver and pancreatic surgeries, the KIMS Kondapur team is now focusing on training surgeons from across India to ensure that advanced, patient-friendly cancer surgeries become widely available, improving survival rates and quality of life for cancer patients nationwide.
