Rotary Club launches MindPot app to promote mental well-being among students
Hyderabad, Nov 3 (TNT): The Rotary Club of Hyderabad Mavericks has launched a mental well-being mobile application, MindPot, along with a Well-being Toolkit to help students cope with academic stress, peer pressure and other emotional challenges.
The app was unveiled by Rotary District Governor Uday Pilani and guest of honour Rashida Adenwala at the concluding ceremony of PEP-UP, a year-long student mental well-being initiative implemented by the club at an investment of Rs 33 lakh.
The project, designed for students aged 13-21 years, reached more than 3,200 students through awareness programmes and screened 2,686 students across eight government and private educational institutions in Hyderabad, the Club said in a release on Tuesday.
Of the students screened, 574 were identified as requiring additional attention and support.
Following individual and group counselling, 503 students moved into the Green Zone, indicating improvement in their mental well-being, while the remaining 71 continue to receive counselling and specialised referrals wherever necessary.
The initiative covered eight institutions, including Sri Sahithi High School, ZPHS Kothaguda, New Bloom High School, ZPHS Kondapur, Samskruthi High School, Government Junior College, G Narayanamma Institute of Technology and Science and ZPHS Peddamangalaram.
Rotary Club of Livermore was the international sponsor of the project, while Manojagrithi and Sudisha Counselling Centre provided implementation and counselling support.
The newly launched MindPot app is aimed at encouraging students to prioritise mental health alongside academic performance and helping them manage stress arising from examinations, parental expectations, peer pressure, career choices and social media.
The organisers said the initiative would continue beyond its initial one-year implementation, with the objective of creating greater awareness about student mental health and encouraging young people to seek help without hesitation.
