New Delhi, Nov 3 (TNT): Honda Cars India Ltd on Tuesday announced ‘Honda ALPHA’ as the official name of its upcoming all-new electric SUV, which will make its global debut in India on December 2, 2026.

The model will be the company’s first electric SUV to be manufactured in India and marks a significant step in its electrification strategy, the company said in a release.

Derived from the first letter of the Greek alphabet, the name ALPHA symbolises a new beginning.

India will be the first market to introduce the model and is also expected to serve as its global production base.

The electric SUV was first showcased as a concept prototype at the Japan Mobility Show 2025.

It has been developed with a focus on advanced technology, futuristic design and driving experience, catering to both urban and natural environments.

Honda Cars India President and CEO Toshiyuki Yanagisawa said the new model reflected the company’s ambition to bring advanced electric mobility to Indian customers while retaining its focus on quality, reliability and driving experience.

He said India would play an important role in the global production strategy for the model, reaffirming Honda’s long-term commitment to the Indian market.

The announcement also marks the first official use of Honda’s newly redesigned ‘H’ mark in the company’s communications in India.

The updated logo, adopted globally for Honda’s automobile business, represents its transformation and commitment to innovation and new challenges.
