Next general elections crucial, Rahul Gandhi must become PM to empower Bahujans: Telangana CM
Hyderabad, Oct 22 (TNT) : Warning that the next general elections will be critical for the nation’s future, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday urged the public to rally behind Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, asserting that genuine socio-political empowerment of the majority “Bahujans” can only be realized if Gandhi becomes Prime Minister.
Addressing the birth anniversary celebrations of historical Telangana fighter Pandaga Sayanna Mudiraj here, the Chief Minister underscored that the ruling Congress government is placing Backward Classes (BC) at the forefront of its governance and political agenda.
Signalling a major policy move, Revanth Reddy announced that a Cabinet Sub-Committee would soon be constituted to comprehensively evaluate the long-standing demand of shifting the Mudiraj community from the ‘BC-D’ category to ‘BC-A’.
“Due to the absence of precise demographic data in the past, the reclassification of the Mudiraj community from BC-D to BC-A could not materialize. We will deliberate on this in the upcoming Cabinet meeting and set up a dedicated Cabinet Sub-Committee to conduct an in-depth study,” the Chief Minister said, adding that concerns and misconceptions raised by other groups would also be examined and addressed.
Revanth Reddy highlighted that the Mudiraj community forms the single largest demographic group in his assembly constituency of Kodangal.
Reiterating his commitment to their political representation, the Chief Minister recalled elevating Jupally Krishna Rao and supporting leaders like Srihari Mudiraj and Neelam Madhu.
He further urged Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar to represent the matter before TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud to allocate an MLC ticket to a candidate from the Mudiraj community.
Emphasising the historical significance of the comprehensive socio-economic, employment, educational, and caste survey launched by the state, the Chief Minister stated that the empirical data will serve as a powerful tool for communities to secure their proportional rights.
He called upon all communities to actively point out discrepancies and furnish accurate data to correct any population count errors in the census report.
“The first caste census was carried out during the British era. Today, after nearly a century, our government has successfully undertaken this comprehensive exercise to ensure equitable justice,” Revanth Reddy added.
