Pandaga Sayanna, Doddi Komaraiah statues to be installed on Tank Bund in Hyderabad : CM Revanth Reddy
Hyderabad, Oct 22 (TNT) :Statues of legendary Telangana folk hero Pandaga Sayanna Mudiraj and Telangana Armed Struggle martyr Doddi Komaraiah will soon be installed along Hyderabad’s iconic Tank Bund, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced on Thursday.
Addressing a gathering after paying tributes at the birth anniversary celebrations of Pandaga Sayanna here, the Chief Minister said both icons rightfully belong alongside the historical stalwarts gracing the Hussain Sagar promenade.
Reddy recounted Sayanna’s historic resistance during the Nizam era, recalling how the rebel fighter took up arms against oppressive feudal lords (Doras) who usurped the lands of impoverished peasants.
He highlighted Sayanna’s social legacy, including providing financial support for the marriages of women from impoverished backgrounds and defending marginalized communities before he was deceitfully killed.
The Chief Minister also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to social welfare and inclusivity, noting that safety nets have been substantially broadened across Telangana.
He stated that the administration is supplying fine-quality rice to 3.48 crore citizens and fast-tracking the construction of ‘Indiramma’ housing units across rural areas, while continuing and strengthening grassroots welfare programmes launched by past governments.
