Telangana CM Revanth invites Prince Rahim Aga Khan V to Telangana Global Summit
Hyderabad, Sept 15 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday invited Prince Rahim Aga Khan V to attend the three-day Telangana Global Summit-2026, scheduled to be held from December 7 at Bharat Future City, and sought the Aga Khan Foundation’s cooperation in restoring heritage structures in Hyderabad.
During a meeting with Prince Rahim Aga Khan V at Taj Falaknuma Palace here, the Chief Minister also sought collaboration with the Aga Khan Foundation in the education, tourism and healthcare sectors in Telangana.
Revanth expressed condolences to Prince Rahim Aga Khan V over the death of his father, late Aga Khan IV, and recalled the long association of the Aga Khan family with Hyderabad.
The Chief Minister appreciated the Aga Khan Foundation’s initiatives in Telangana, particularly its role in restoring heritage structures.
He referred to the recently restored Legislative Council building and the Qutb Shahi Tombs, which were restored with the Foundation’s assistance.
Seeks restoration of City College, Osmania Hospital
The Chief Minister briefed Prince Rahim Aga Khan V on the government’s plans for rejuvenation of the Musi river and development of a night economy along its banks.
He sought the Aga Khan Foundation’s cooperation in restoring the historic City College and Osmania Hospital buildings located in the Musi catchment area.
Revanth also suggested developing the existing Osmania Hospital building as a heritage asset under the Foundation’s aegis, noting that a new hospital building was being constructed at Goshamahal.
Prince Rahim Aga Khan evinces interest in Future City
The Chief Minister explained plans to develop Bharat Future City across 30,000 acres near Shamshabad Airport. Prince Rahim Aga Khan V expressed interest in the project and enquired about its location.
Revanth said a Singapore-based company was preparing the master plan for the Future City, which is proposed as a net-zero city with a green zone spread across about 15,000 acres.
He also said major companies, including Amazon, had commenced operations in the Future City.
The Chief Minister said Telangana was targeting a $3 trillion economy by 2047 and aimed to increase the state’s contribution to India’s GDP from the present 2.5 per cent to 10 per cent.
He said representatives from more than 100 countries were expected to participate in the Telangana Global Summit, where business and investment opportunities in the state would be showcased.
The meeting also discussed cooperation in education and tourism. CM’s Advisor Ramakrishna Rao briefed Prince Rahim Aga Khan V on agreements signed with global universities during recent visits to Britain and the US.
State Education Principal Secretary Yogita Rana sought the establishment of an Aga Khan University campus at Future City, while Special Chief Secretary Vani Prasad highlighted the Aga Khan Foundation’s contribution to tourism and sought greater collaboration in the sector.
Minister Azharuddin, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, CM’s Advisor Ramakrishna Rao and senior government officials and representatives of the Aga Khan Foundation attended the meeting.
