Amaravati, Sept 15 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday directed officials to implement the Housing for All programme on a saturation basis and complete 5.52 lakh houses by March 2027.

Reviewing the Housing Department at the Camp Office, the Chief Minister directed officials to ground all housing projects under various schemes, including PMAY-G and PM Janman, by next month.

He directed officials to construct 1.5 lakh houses in urban areas and complete 2.05 lakh houses by December 2026 and another 2.74 lakh by March 2027, making them ready for housewarming ceremonies.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that 18.72 lakh houses had been sanctioned under PMAY 1.0, PMAY 2.0 and PM Janman, of which 13.20 lakh had been completed.

Under the Andhra Pradesh Housing Corporation, 11.31 lakh houses out of 16.11 lakh sanctioned had been completed, while under AP TIDCO, 1.88 lakh houses out of 2.61 lakh had been completed, officials said.

Naidu directed officials to sanction 75,000 new houses by December 2027 and bring another 1.5 lakh houses into the pipeline.

He asked them to coordinate with the Union Ministries of Rural Development and Housing and Urban Affairs to secure the required allocations.

The Chief Minister also directed officials to identify the actual demand among families without house sites by integrating data from RTGS, Awaas Plus, Housing and Revenue departments and eliminating duplication.

He instructed officials to publish preliminary beneficiary lists at Village and Ward Secretariat levels, invite objections and finalise the lists after transparently resolving them.

Naidu directed officials to reorganise unutilised land in existing layouts into two- or three-cent plots based on local requirements, identify vacant sites and map them to eligible beneficiaries. He also called for continuous monitoring until construction was completed.

The Chief Minister directed officials to implement housing construction in Kuppam Assembly constituency on a saturation basis and reiterated the government’s objective of providing a safe and permanent house to every eligible family in the State by 2029.

Focus on industrial townships

Naidu also directed the Housing Department to focus on developing industrial townships at various locations in the State with Central government support.

He said industrial townships in areas such as Sri City would create greater scope for economic activity and transactions.

He instructed officials to coordinate with the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) for their development.
