Srivari Brahmotsavams begin at Tirumala with Dhwajarohanam
Tirumala, Sept 15 (TNT): The annual Brahmotsavams of Sri Venkateswara Swamy commenced at Tirumala on Tuesday with the traditional Dhwajarohanam ceremony at the Srivari temple.
The ritual was performed in accordance with Vaikhanasa Agama traditions between 6.21 pm and 6.35 pm during the auspicious Meena Lagnam.
Earlier, Sri Malayappa Swamy, accompanied by consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi, was taken in a procession on the Golden Tiruchi along with the Parivara Devatas.
The Dhwaja Patam bearing the image of Garuda was brought into the temple and special pujas were performed, followed by Asthanam for the processional deities at the Tirumalaraya Mandapam.
As part of the rituals, Vedic scholars recited Garuda Gadyam, Garuda Churnika and other shlokas before the Garuda flag was ceremonially hoisted atop the temple mast.
According to tradition, Garuda invites the celestial deities from all worlds to participate in the Brahmotsavams and bless the celebrations.
Both Tirumala pontiffs, Venkata Raghava Deekshitulu, Kankanabhattar, TTD Executive Officer M Ravichandra, board members and other officials participated in the ceremony.
