SCR women finish second, zone third overall at All India Railway Athletics Championship
Hyderabad,, Sept 13 (TNT): South Central Railway (SCR) women’s team secured second position in the overall championship, while SCR finished third in the overall points table at the 91st All India Railway Athletics (Men and Women) Championship held in Kolkata from September 11 to 13.
Twenty teams from across Indian Railways participated in the championship organised by the Eastern Railway Sports Association.
SCR athletes won medals in several events. Ankita bagged silver in the 3,000 metres, Mohammed Tabis won silver in hammer throw, Bhuvaneswary Devi secured silver and Arpita bronze in the 800 metres, while Abhinav Vaishnav won silver in men’s discus throw, SCR said in a release here on Sunday.
Kusuma Ravada won silver in long jump and Pallavi secured bronze in high jump. The SCR women’s 4×400 metres relay team won silver, while the women’s 4×100 metres relay team bagged bronze.
SCR General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava congratulated the medal winners and appreciated their hard work, sportsmanship and sincerity.
