Kalakriti Art Gallery to present ‘Nothing Arrives Unchanged’ group exhibition in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Aug 26 (TNT) : Kalakriti Art Gallery will present Nothing Arrives Unchanged, a group exhibition curated by Satyajit Dave, opening on August 27 in Hyderabad.

The exhibition brings together works by contemporary artists Arunkumar H G, Asim Waqif, Guruvinayak Singh Budhwar, Pooja Iranna, Rakesh Patel, Salik Ansari, Shanthamani Muddaiah, Shweta Mansingka and Tanmay Santra, the organisers said in a release on Wednesday.

The exhibition explores the idea that an artwork is never truly finished, with the materials and ideas that shape it constantly moving from one stage to another.

The works carry traces of their making and remain in a state of evolution, the organisers said.

The exhibition features works involving fired clay, cut and welded steel, discarded materials, photography and interpretations of myths that have travelled across generations and artistic forms.

Gallerist Rekha Lahoti said the exhibition marked Kalakriti’s return to a purely sculptural presentation after nearly three years.

She said the exhibition had evolved through extensive thought, discussions and consideration of how the works and practices of the participating artists could come together.

Arunkumar H G’s practice explores waste management and the possibilities of creating sculptures from discarded materials, while Asim Waqif brings a futuristic practice to the exhibition. Waqif, who is from Hyderabad and has participated in the Venice Biennale, will be exhibiting in the city for the first time, Lahoti said.

Salik Ansari, who has a Berlin Biennale background, is presenting a body of work that requires highly specific installation. The installation process itself forms an important part of the presentation, she said.

Senior artist Shanthamani Muddaiah, whose works have been presented at the Bengaluru airport and several international biennales, is also part of the exhibition.

Artists Shanthamani Muddaiah, Shweta Mansingka, Guruvinayak Singh Budhwar and Pooja Iranna will be presenting their works in Hyderabad for the first time, the organisers said.

The exhibition will remain on view at Kalakriti Art Gallery until October 4.
