AP to roll out Sanjeevani health project across state from Jan 1: CM Naidu
Amaravati, Aug 26 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday directed officials to implement the Sanjeevani Health Project across the state from January 1, with a focus on predictive, preventive and cost-effective healthcare.
Reviewing the project with officials at his camp office, Naidu said statewide implementation of Sanjeevani, backed by digital health records, could bring a significant transformation in healthcare delivery.
He said the project had shown encouraging results in Kuppam Assembly constituency and Chittoor district and directed officials to replicate the outcomes across the state.
The Chief Minister said healthcare expenses were placing a significant financial burden on families and initiatives such as Sanjeevani should help reduce their expenditure on medical treatment.
He directed Tata, the official partner in the programme, to focus on innovations in healthcare and strengthen the project with new technologies.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that a 90-day action plan had been prepared for the statewide rollout. It includes baseline studies, development of digital infrastructure, training and certification of medical personnel and integration with national and state health portals.
Medical staff will be trained across all 28 districts as part of the expansion, they said.
Naidu said healthcare should be predictive, preventive, curative and affordable and called for efforts to improve people’s dietary habits and mindset alongside providing medical treatment.
He stressed the need to leverage Ayurveda, homeopathy, yoga, pranayama and advances in modern medicine, besides expanding the use of AI-based healthcare solutions.
The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure data security and confidentiality and develop a comprehensive dashboard to monitor the programme. He also called for a system to send health-related updates directly to citizens’ mobile phones.
Reviewing the programme’s performance in Kuppam and Chittoor, officials said 56 per cent of hypertension cases had been brought under control, while the severity of 16 per cent of diabetes cases had reduced in Chittoor.
The utilisation of primary healthcare services had also increased significantly, they said.
A survey showed that 91 per cent of respondents felt their awareness about their health had improved after availing Sanjeevani services, officials said.
They said an AI-based healthcare ecosystem was being developed to cover the entire process from screening and diagnosis to treatment and follow-up.
Minister Satya Kumar Yadav, Health and Medical Department Secretary Veerapandian, Joint Secretary Ronanki Gopalakrishna and representatives of the Tata Group attended the meeting.
