Reliance Brands to Bring SKIMS to India; First Stores in Delhi, Mumbai
Mumbai, Aug. 5 (TNT): Reliance Brands Limited (RBL), a subsidiary of Reliance Retail Ventures Limited, on Wednesday announced an exclusive partnership with global lifestyle and shapewear brand SKIMS to launch the brand in India.
Under the agreement, RBL will operate SKIMS across physical and digital channels and open the brand’s first exclusive stores in Delhi and Mumbai, followed by a phased expansion into other cities.
The partnership marks SKIMS’ entry into one of the world’s fastest-growing luxury and premium consumer markets and forms part of the brand’s global retail expansion following recent store openings in London and Dubai, with Hong Kong and Seoul next in line, the company said in a release here.
Co-founded in 2019 by Kim Kardashian and Jens Grede, SKIMS has built a global presence in women’s underwear, shapewear and loungewear by focusing on fit, comfort and inclusivity.
The brand has since expanded into men’s products and the NikeSKIMS line.
Commenting on the partnership, Isha Ambani, Director, Reliance Retail Ventures Limited, said SKIMS has redefined comfort, inclusivity and modern fashion, adding that the brand resonates with a new generation of Indian consumers seeking premium and aspirational products.
Kim Kardashian, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer of SKIMS, said the company had witnessed strong interest from Indian consumers and looked forward to welcoming them to its first stores in the country.
Jens Grede, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of SKIMS, said Reliance Brands’ experience in building global fashion and lifestyle brands in India made it an ideal partner for the brand’s entry into the Indian market.
RBL said the rollout of SKIMS in India would be phased, beginning with Delhi and Mumbai before expanding across additional cities and digital platforms.
Reliance Brands currently operates more than 1,855 stores and shop-in-shops across India and manages a portfolio of leading global luxury and premium brands spanning fashion, lifestyle and retail.
