Women’s Reservation Bill Reflects Ambedkar’s Vision, Says MoS Bandi Sanjay

Hyderabad, Apr 14 (TNT) : Union Minister of state for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Tuesday asserted that the proposed Women’s Reservation Bill reflects the ideals of B. R. Ambedkar, while calling for support from all political parties beyond partisan considerations.

Speaking after paying tributes to Ambedkar on his birth anniversary, Sanjay said the legislation aligns with Ambedkar’s vision of social justice and gender equality.

He urged opposition parties to rise above political differences and back the bill in Parliament.

Highlighting the political significance of the measure, he said the government led by Narendra Modi was committed to ensuring greater representation for women in legislative bodies, in line with Ambedkar’s advocacy for equal rights.

Sanjay also used the occasion to underline the BJP’s efforts to carry forward Ambedkar’s legacy, stating that the party has consistently promoted the representation of Dalits, tribals and backward classes in governance.

He noted that Prime Minister Modi had acknowledged Ambedkar’s role in enabling leaders from marginalised backgrounds to rise to top positions.

Positioning the bill as a step towards inclusive governance, the Union Minister said its passage would mark a significant milestone in strengthening democratic institutions and empowering women politically.

He further highlighted initiatives taken by the Centre to honour Ambedkar, including the development of “Pancha Teerth” sites and the launch of the BHIM app in his memory.

Sanjay maintained that true respect to Ambedkar lies in implementing his ideals, and said the Women’s Reservation Bill represents a key legislative effort in that direction.
