WMF Offers Support for Revival of Telangana State Museum

Hyderabad, June 18 (TNT): A delegation from the World Monuments Fund (WMF) on Thursday visited the Telangana State Museum and expressed willingness to support efforts for the conservation and revival of the historic institution.

The delegation, led by Executive Director Malini Tandon, appreciated the museum’s rich collection of antiquities and artefacts, describing it as a repository of Telangana’s cultural heritage and historical legacy.

During the visit, the team observed that the museum building requires urgent conservation and restoration measures to preserve its architectural and heritage value. It also stressed the need to improve visitor amenities and infrastructure.

The WMF representatives indicated their interest in exploring funding opportunities and extending support for the strengthening and revitalisation of the museum.

Officials of the Department of Heritage briefed the delegation on the museum’s history, collections and ongoing activities, highlighting its significance as one of Telangana’s premier cultural institutions.

The department thanked the World Monuments Fund for its visit and support towards preserving and promoting the state’s heritage.
