Volvo CE launches 65-tonne EC650 excavator for mining sector
Greater Noida, Sept 22 (TNT): Volvo Construction Equipment India has commercially launched the EC650, a 65-tonne class excavator, for mining applications at bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2026.
Powered by a Volvo D13E engine delivering 435 hp, the EC650 is equipped with a heavy-duty undercarriage, boom and arm, along with advanced hydraulics designed for mass excavation and mining applications, the company said in a release on Tuesday0.
The excavator is available for immediate delivery to mining customers and will also be offered through Volvo’s Equipment-as-a-Service model, it said.
Volvo CE said the EC650 will be supported through connected services, productivity solutions, repair and maintenance agreements and application-led offerings aimed at improving equipment uptime and site efficiency.
The company’s showcase at the event includes its 20-tonne excavator range comprising the EC210, EC215 and EC220, along with the EC300, SD110, DD90 and L120 Electric Wheel Loader in the Construction & Industrial zone.
The EC480, EC650 and L150 are being showcased in the Mining zone as part of an application-focused display, the company said.
The showcase is part of Volvo CE’s ‘Aaj Banayein Kal’ campaign, highlighting India’s infrastructure development and the role of contractors, customers and equipment operators.
Volvo Construction Equipment India Managing Director Dimitrov Krishnan said the EC650 was developed to meet the requirements of India’s mining sector, with a focus on reliability, fuel efficiency and operator responsiveness.
The company had earlier announced an investment in its Technology Centre in Bengaluru to support research and development, localisation and product innovation for India and global markets.
