Vedanta Contributes Rs 7 Crore for Assam Flood Relief; CM appreciates
Guwahati, Aug. 6 (TNT): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday appreciated Vedanta Chairman Anil Agarwal and the Vedanta Group for contributing Rs 7 crore towards relief and rehabilitation efforts for people affected by the recent floods in the state.
In a post on X, the Chief Minister thanked Agarwal and the Vedanta Group for extending support to Assam during the crisis.
Sarma said Vedanta had made significant investments in Assam and had once again stood by the people of the state by contributing Rs 7 crore towards flood relief and rehabilitation.
He described the gesture as a reflection of Agarwal’s commitment to giving back to society.
The contribution will be utilised for immediate relief measures, including food, shelter, safe drinking water and medical assistance, as well as long-term rehabilitation of flood-affected communities.
Vedanta has a long-standing presence in Assam through its oil and gas operations.
