UoH to organise World Photography Day celebrations from Aug. 19

Hyderabad, July 21(TNT): The Department of Communication, Sarojini Naidu School of Arts and Communication, University of Hyderabad (UoH), will organise the third edition of its World Photography Day celebrations and photo contest from August 19 to 23.

The celebrations on August 19 and 20 will include expert lectures, panel discussions and interactive sessions by photographers, visual storytellers and media professionals on contemporary photography, visual communication and emerging technologies, the University said in a release here on Tuesday.

A five-day photography exhibition featuring selected entries from the contest will be held from August 19 to 23 at the Annex Building of the Sarojini Naidu School of Arts and Communication on the UoH campus.

The photo contest is open to amateur and professional photographers. Entries showcasing visual storytelling have been invited, with the last date for submission being August 5, 2026, at 5 p.m. The contest carries three winner awards, three consolation prizes and three merit certificates.

Dean of the Sarojini Naidu School of Arts and Communication said the event aims to promote photography as a medium of communication, documentation and social expression while encouraging students and photography enthusiasts to engage in meaningful visual storytelling.

Head of the Department of Communication said the first two editions had received an encouraging response from across the city and that this year’s edition would feature a stronger line-up of expert sessions alongside a curated exhibition of photographs by amateur and professional participants.
