TTD Explores Direct Procurement of Pulses from AP Dal Millers for Annaprasadam

Tirumala, June 18 (TNT): Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on Thursday held discussions with dal millers from across Andhra Pradesh on ensuring the supply of quality pulses for its Annaprasadam programme, which provides free meals to devotees visiting Tirumala.

The meeting, chaired by TTD Additional Executive Officer Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary, focused on the quantitative and qualitative requirements of pulses used in the preparation of Annaprasadam.

Addressing the millers, Chowdary said TTD consumes seven varieties of pulses on a daily basis, including Bengal gram, fried Bengal gram, black gram with and without husk, toor dal, green gram and groundnuts.

He said TTD had improved the quality of rice supplied for Annaprasadam in recent years through procurement from the Rice Millers Association without compromising on standards and expressed confidence that dal millers would similarly ensure the supply of quality pulses in sufficient quantities.

Representatives of the dal milling industry assured TTD of their willingness to contribute to the Annaprasadam scheme by supplying quality products, describing it as an opportunity to participate in a service that benefits millions of pilgrims.

Chowdary later directed officials concerned to explore the feasibility of procuring pulses directly from millers through a transparent mechanism.

Deputy Executive Officer (Annaprasadam) Rajendra Kumar, Deputy Executive Officer (Warehousing) Padmavathi, General Manager (Procurement) Umashankar, Assistant Executive Officer (Potu) Muniratnam, Special Officer (Catering) Shastry and representatives of dal mills from various parts of Andhra Pradesh attended the meeting.
