PM Modi Calls for Inclusive Growth, Global Connectivity at G7 Outreach Session

Evian (France), June 17 (TNT): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday called for inclusive and sustainable growth, stronger global connectivity and greater support for developing nations while addressing the G7 Outreach Session under France’s presidency.

Addressing world leaders, Modi said that at a time of growing global challenges and uncertainties, the message emerging from the G7 forum was important for the well-being and future of humanity.

He said the real measure of growth was not limited to GDP figures or trade volumes but depended on who benefits from development, how inclusive it is and the direction it takes.

Highlighting India’s development model, the Prime Minister said the country’s growth story was one of inclusion, scale and democratic empowerment. He noted that when India progresses, one-sixth of humanity progresses with it.

Modi said India’s development journey over the past 12 years had been guided by the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas”, which also shapes its global engagement.

Referring to India’s G20 Presidency, he recalled the theme “One Earth, One Family, One Future” and said it reflected India’s civilisational ethos of viewing the entire world as one family.

The Prime Minister highlighted the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), describing it as a strategic initiative connecting Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

He said the corridor would strengthen supply chains, boost trade and create fresh opportunities for investment, innovation and employment.

Emphasising the need for transparent and sustainable infrastructure initiatives, Modi called for advancing projects based on local ownership, transparent financing and long-term sustainability.

Expressing concern over disruptions in fuel, fertiliser and food supply chains caused by the West Asia crisis, he said the impact would continue to affect countries of the Global South.

He urged the international community to ensure that vulnerable nations are not left alone to bear the burden of such crises.

The Prime Minister called on international financial institutions to develop support mechanisms that would help developing countries withstand economic shocks and maintain resilience.

Drawing inspiration from the IMEC vision, Modi proposed expanding connectivity projects to Africa, Latin America and the Pacific Island region.

He suggested the creation of the International Mobilisation Partnership for Accelerating Connectivity and Trade (IMPACT), aimed at developing corridors linking trade, technology, energy and opportunity.

He also proposed establishing a Global Skills Partnership to harness the complementary strengths of ageing developed economies and the youthful workforce of India and other Global South nations.

The initiative, he said, could focus on skill mapping and trusted mobility of skilled professionals.

Reaffirming India’s commitment to global prosperity, Modi said the country had concluded trade agreements with most nations represented at the meeting.

He said India believes in integration rather than fragmentation, partnership rather than protectionism, and shared prosperity instead of uncertainty.

The Prime Minister said India would continue working with global partners to strengthen economic resilience and build a more stable, reliable and prosperous world economy.
