Toyota Kirloskar completes CSR projects in Uttarakhand, to benefit over 4 lakh people
Dehradun, July 11 (TNT): Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has completed a series of community development initiatives in Uttarakhand covering education, healthcare, community well-being and livelihoods, with the projects expected to benefit more than four lakh people across Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital districts.
The initiatives are being implemented under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Uttarakhand government to roll out holistic CSR programmes in Khatima and Haldwani from the 2025-26 financial year onwards, the company said in a release here on Saturday.
As part of its education initiatives, TKM has upgraded infrastructure in government schools and anganwadi centres, benefiting 13,532 students through improved classrooms, child-friendly learning materials, furniture, kitchen facilities for mid-day meals and enhanced sports infrastructure.
The company said the interventions are aimed at improving learning outcomes and promoting holistic development.
TKM has also launched a project to modernise science laboratories in nine government schools in Khatima by providing new scientific equipment and models, replacing outdated infrastructure that has been in use for over 15 years.
The initiative is expected to benefit more than 7,000 students.
In the healthcare sector, the company is strengthening medical infrastructure at the Khatima Sub-District Hospital and Primary Health Centres at Deori and Chakarpur by supplying essential medical and non-medical equipment. The project is expected to benefit over three lakh people and support the management of more than 1,500 maternity cases annually.
To promote community health and fitness, TKM has established three open gym facilities and developed a children’s play area in Khatima.
The facilities are expected to serve nearly 60,000 residents, particularly women, senior citizens and children.
As part of its livelihood initiatives, the company has installed a solar power system at a quilt-making centre in Gadarpur, Udham Singh Nagar district, benefiting more than 120 women associated with local self-help groups by ensuring uninterrupted power supply for machinery and improving productivity.
The projects were formally handed over during the CSR Dialogue 2026 held in Dehradun on July 10 in the presence of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi, senior government officials and Toyota Kirloskar Motor executives.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said partnerships between the government and responsible corporate organisations play an important role in strengthening education, healthcare and sustainable livelihoods while accelerating inclusive development across the state.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor Country Head and Executive Vice President (Corporate Affairs) Vikram Gulati said the company’s initiatives are focused on creating long-term social infrastructure that empowers children, supports women and improves community well-being through sustainable and scalable development models.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor said it has been undertaking community development programmes across education, environment, road safety, skill development, health, hygiene and disaster management since 2001 as part of its commitment to sustainable social development.
