Thousands of women take part in Sri Mahalakshmi Deepa Puja at Chandragiri temple in Tirupati
Tirupati, July 11 (TNT): Thousands of women participated in the Sri Mahalakshmi Deepa Puja held with religious fervour at the Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple in Chandragiri hear here on Friday, offering prayers to Goddess Mahalakshmi for prosperity, peace and well-being.
Speaking on the occasion, TTD Additional Executive Officer Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary said the SVBC Channel has been promoting devotion through innovative spiritual programmes and noted that the live telecast enabled millions of devotees in India and abroad to witness the event.
He expressed satisfaction over the enthusiastic participation of women.
TTD Joint Executive Officer Dr. A. Sharath said the TTD has been organising spiritual programmes aimed at promoting peace, prosperity and social well-being, adding that the Sri Mahalakshmi Deepa Puja has inspired greater spiritual awareness among devotees.
Chandragiri MLA Pulivarthi Nani said efforts would be made to further develop the historic temple and improve facilities for pilgrims. He said such programmes strengthen devotion and promote social harmony.
Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad Secretary Dr. Medasani Mohan said the sacred lamp symbolises knowledge, auspiciousness and prosperity, expressing hope that the Mahalakshmi Deepa Puja would bring peace, happiness and abundance to every household.
The rituals, conducted in accordance with Agama traditions, included Vishvaksena Puja, Punyahavachanam, Deepalakshmi Aradhana and Ashtottara Shatanamarchana, accompanied by Vedic chanting and Lakshmi Stotra Parayanam. The temple premises were illuminated by thousands of ceremonial lamps lit by devotees.
Devotional songs presented by artistes of the Annamacharya Project added to the spiritual atmosphere. The programme concluded with Nakshatra Harati, Kumbha Harati and distribution of Tirtha Prasadam.
TTD made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the programme. TTD Deputy Executive Officer Ms Nagaratna, VGO Giridhar, HDPP Additional Secretary Ms Kalyani, Executive Engineer Mallikarjuna Prasad, Deputy Engineer Ms. Saraswathi, temple officials, priests, Vedic scholars and a large number of devotees attended the event.
