Telangana witnessing robust growth under Congress rule: CM Revanth Reddy
Hyderabad, Aug 13 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday said the youngest state was witnessing robust growth under the Congress government since 2023 and alleged that the state had suffered destruction during the previous BRS regime.
Speaking at a public meeting after laying the foundation stone for the ‘Indiramma Houses Towers’ at Kukatpally here, Revanth Reddy appealed to people to compare the 10-year BRS rule with the two years of Congress government and assess the development taking place in the state.
“We are steering Telangana away from destruction and towards development. I resolved to do good for the state as a young leader with patience,” he said.
Taking a swipe at BRS leaders, the Chief Minister alleged that some forces had performed ‘Kshudra Puja’ (occult rituals) against the development of Telangana and wished for drought in the state.
“God is on our side and the state is receiving good rains. The occult rituals performed with malicious intent backfired on those who were against Telangana’s development,” he said.
On the Indiramma Housing Towers, Revanth Reddy said the government had decided to provide one lakh houses to the urban poor in the first phase.
He criticised the previous BRS government for failing to fulfil its promise of providing double-bedroom houses to poor families.
“As your brother, I will stand by you to make your dream of owning a home a reality,” he said.
Referring to lands covered under Section 22A, the Chief Minister assured people that their ownership rights would be protected and urged them not to worry or believe misinformation being circulated on social media regarding prohibited lands.
Highlighting welfare measures for women, Revanth Reddy said the government had introduced several initiatives, including distribution of ‘Indiramma Sarees’, free bus travel for women in RTC buses, bank linkage loans worth Rs 65,000 crore for self-help groups, petrol bunks and solar plants for women’s groups and stalls at Shilparamam for SHGs to sell their products.
He said the government was also supplying fine-quality rice to 3.28 crore people, providing 200 units of free electricity to poor families and cooking gas at Rs 500.
The Chief Minister said the government was implementing its welfare and development programmes despite the huge debt burden inherited from the previous government.
Revanth Reddy recalled that he had been elected as an MP from Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency with the support of people from Kukatpally, but could not undertake development works on the desired scale due to lack of funds.
He directed IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu to prepare a special development plan for the Kukatpally constituency with a focus on infrastructure and other key requirements.
