Hindus and Muslims are two eyes for me: CM Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad, Aug 13 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday said Hindus and Muslims were “two eyes” for him and asserted that the Congress government was committed to the empowerment of the Muslim community.

Participating in the Minorities Excellence Summit here, Revanth Reddy urged people to ensure that their names were not deleted from the electoral rolls during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

The Chief Minister alleged that some political forces were conspiring to delete votes in Telangana and urged Congress workers to visit every household and verify voters’ names to ensure that no eligible citizen loses the right to vote.

“Everyone must become a Revanth Reddy and safeguard the right to vote,” he said.

Revanth Reddy said the Congress government had effectively implemented four per cent reservation for minorities and claimed that minority youth had secured jobs in Group-I and Group-II services.

He said the government pursued the recruitment process despite attempts to stall it through legal proceedings and ensured that minority candidates received their due opportunities.

Listing measures taken for minority empowerment, the Chief Minister said a member of the minority community had been appointed to the Telangana Public Service Commission.

He also cited the appointment of former Indian cricket captain Mohammed Azharuddin as a Minister, providing a Group-I level government job and Rs 3 crore cash prize to world boxing champion Nikhat Zareen, and appointing cricketer Mohammed Siraj as a DSP.

The Chief Minister urged Muslim youth to acquire skills alongside formal education to take advantage of employment opportunities in Germany and Japan.

He said the state government had established a Skills University to enhance the skills and employability of students.

Revanth Reddy thanked the Muslim community for its support in helping him become the Chief Minister of Telangana and said his government would continue to work towards the welfare and empowerment of minorities.
